Hosting a craft beer tasting with friends is one of the most enjoyable ways to discover new beer styles and elevate your palate. Here is our simple guide from the PourHaus cellar team to help you curate an unforgettable tasting flight.

1. Curate a Logical Tasting Progression

Always order your flight from lightest to darkest and least bitter to most bitter. Serving a heavy double IPA before a delicate pilsner will overwhelm your tastebuds.

  • Pour 1: Crisp & Clean – German Pilsner or Kolsch

  • Pour 2: Malt & Spice – Belgian Witbier or Amber Ale

  • Pour 3: Hop-Forward – New England Hazy IPA or West Coast IPA

  • Pour 4: Rich & Roasty – Chocolate Porter or Imperial Oatmeal Stout

2. Mind the Temperature

Serving craft beer ice cold masks the intricate hop oils and malt sweetness. Lighter lagers shine at 42–45°F (5–7°C), while bold IPAs and stouts show best at 50–55°F (10–13°C).

3. Pair Simple Palate Cleansers

Keep neutral snacks on hand: water crackers, mild artisanal cheddar, and sparkling water. They refresh the palate between distinct sips.
